What is Hybrid Training?
Lets start with the ‘true’ definition just to give the idea that i know what i’m talking about…ish
Hybrid training is a method where you mix various classic training modalities to create all rounded athletes, benefiting from strength training, cardiovascular training, strength and conditioning, power lifting and all so on. But in simple words, train everything that makes you faster, stronger, fitter and healthier.
So where does the average person fit in?
in short, absolutely anywhere you want
As the world of Hybrid training hit the fitness industry the general consensus was lift heavy & run far, which personally i love. Especially as it was the ultimate myth buster, we’ve all heard it, running kills gains, muscles kills endurance. But now thanks social media i can point you in the direction of 1000s of hybrid athletes both male and female all across the world that are absolutely jacked and have the endurance engine of a diesel transit van. That was actually a compliment.
And then came along Hyrox, not to say there are not many more competitions or events that are great in the industry but i think we can all agree Hyrox is leading the pack. So Hyrox added a whole new element into the hybrid world. 8 functional stations with 8 x 1km runs, a true test of condition and ‘mid distance’ endurance. But more importantly, an all inclusive opportunity to showcase your abilities, and what hybrid is all about.
So where does the everyday person fit in?
In short, absolutely anywhere you want. There is no barrier to entry in the world of hybrid fitness training, which kills the ideology of exclusivity, because hyrbid fitness is the one for all, you don’t have to be a body builder, you don’t have to be a marathon runner, you don’t have to be an athlete. You do have to be something though…
You have to be willing and hungry to want to get better, to get faster, to get stronger and last but not least, healthier.
